Geotechnical Characterization Cement - Fly Ash –fibers Mix
نویسنده
چکیده
The fly ash is a waste produced mostly from the burning of coal in thermal power station which contributes to environmental pollution. It is naturally-cementitious coal combustion by-product. Many studies have been reported in the literature on the performance evaluation of soil – fly ash system as well soil-fly ashfiber system. Although ample studies have been reported with randomly distributed fibers, relatively less amount of work is found in respect of polypropylene fibers and cement. In view of this, an experimental investigation being undertaken for the performance evaluation of polypropylene fiber-cement-fly ash system is proposed to be reported in Dissertation report. The objective of present investigation is to quantify the optimum quantity of randomly distributed fibers and cement on the performance in terms of unconfined compressive strength especially when it is planned to be used as sub base for foundation and also in highways The results obtained so far reveals that there is significant improvement in the compressive strength with inclusion of randomly distributed fibers. Further it is observed that the optimum moisture content increases and maximum dry density decreases with increase in percentage of polypropylene fibers with stabilized Fly ash.

Evaluation of Geotechnical Properties of Local Clayey Soil Blended with Waste Materials
Nowadays, disposal of waste materials has become a matter of serious concern due to environmental and ecological issues. In this paper, an attempt is made to determine an optimum proportion mix suitable for geotechnical applications by blending the locally available clayey soil with sand, fly ash, tile waste and jute fibers. This optimum mix provides a cheaper construction material and helps in...

This research paper describes the study of combined effect of Fly Ash (FA) and Rice Husk Ash (RHA) on properties of concrete as partial replacement of Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC). These by-products are having high pozzolanic reactivity. In this research, the composition of mix was used with 10% RHA along with 10, 20 and 30% FA as partial replacement of cement. In this study, the compressive ...
متن کاملDurability Performance of Self Compacting Concrete Incorporating Alccofine and Fly Ash
The cost associated with the application of large volume of cement and synthetic admixtures was one of the major drawbacks of Self Compacting Concrete (SCC), which can be reduced by the use of supplementary cementitious materials (SCM). When the demand of cement reduces, the release of carbon dioxide (CO2) from cement industries will come down, which has a positive impact on global w...
متن کاملPerformance evaluation of cement stabilized fly ash-GBFS mixes as a highway construction material.
Fly ash and granulated blast furnace slag (GBFS) are major by-products of thermal and steel plants, respectively. These materials often cause disposal problems and environmental pollution. Detailed laboratory investigations were carried out on cement stabilized fly ash-(GBFS) mixes in order to find out its suitability for road embankments, and for base and sub-base courses of highway pavements....

In spite of broad improvements in construction technology, cement is still stayed as binding material for construction purposes. Cement industries are the main sources for the contribution of carbon dioxide (co2) into the atmosphere. So, there is a need to use new materials as binders (green binders) in substitute for cement, which leads to reducing the production of cement. In this study, fly ...
